Trinity House

For the benefit and safety of all mariners

Pure Executive is delighted to be partnering with Trinity House in the appointment of their new Chief Financial Officer.

Founded by Royal Charter in 1514 under Henry VIII, Trinity House has safeguarded mariners and the nation’s waterways for over five centuries. Originally established as a guild to regulate pilotage on the Thames, it now serves as the General Lighthouse Authority (GLA) for England, Wales, the Channel Islands, and Gibraltar as an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body of the Department of Transport. Working closely with its partner GLAs in Scotland and Ireland, Trinity House’s enduring expertise in aids to navigation, pilotage, and maritime law enables the management of over 11,000 aids to navigation including lighthouses, lightvessels, buoys and beacons and the provision of a 24/7 emergency response to new wrecks and dangers.

Trinity House is also one of the UK’s largest-endowed maritime charities, combining its statutory duties with a mission to support the safety, welfare and education of seafarers. It licenses Deep Sea Pilots, provides Nautical Assessors to the Admiralty Court, maintains almshouses for retired mariners, funds scholarships and cadetships, and contributes around £4 million annually to charitable initiatives that enhance maritime safety and skills. This dual role as both a safety authority and charitable organisation has defined Trinity House for centuries and continues to underpin its overarching purpose: to serve, protect, and support the maritime community.
